alright kids! its time to put on our imagination hats! everyone ready? you're going to need them to enjoy this one!
so last night i decided to go thanksgiving grocery shopping at my fave store, wal-mart, and thought about all those re-usable bags all the stores seem to be selling these days. i've seen them at wal-mart, target, and garden ridge. they're usually .99 cents a piece. i appreciate the idea of them, the using the plastic bags less etc. now i ask...how many of you have actually seen anyone purchase them? when's the last time you were in target and saw a shopper come in with their bullseye bag in tote? what's my point? i guess this...i like the idea of the re-usable bag. i just don't think it's necessary to buy them when i have umpteen tote bags in my closet! so here's the fun part. i go to my closet. i get 3 tote bags...thinking i'm going to have lots of groceries. after all i'm shopping for turkey day! and for low-point weight watchers snacks because i'm doing that again! that's a different story though....moving on!
imagine if you will bag number 1. neon green. mesh. ugly. this is one of my totes. i did not purchase it. it was given to me, by Di, because i love green! so anything she sees green--she gets me! :O) thank you Di.
bag #2. also lime green. this time with white hawaiian flowers all over it. this one i like, i bought it for swimming stuff!
and last but not least, bag the third. this one compliments of Harris Southwest Hospital. it's teal. with purple piping and lettering. just beautiful!
next, picture me walking into wal-mart with my 3 random totes...ready for shopping! once i get them in the cart, i feel less weird. then onto checkout. i decided to check myself out so i would have less awkward interaction...how do you tell the checkout person "hey i've got my own bags! put them on your spinning bag holder dealy and load 'em up!". i decided to try it on my own. i place the totes onto the bagging area. the register tells me "unexpected item in the bagging area". oh joy! so the lady working the self-checkout area zeros the scale out (i guess?) with the bags on it. from there it was pretty smooth sailing! got lots of goodies into those totes. i did use one of theirs, for eggs. better than coming home with 10-15 which i'm sure it would have taken for all those groceries! i'm sure i didn't get too many stares...and if they did stare, who cares? i bet they wish they had thought of it first mwuahahahahahah!
